Application Engineer – Data Centre Cooling Solutions

About the Role
An exciting opportunity for a technically minded Application Engineer to join a leading manufacturer of advanced cooling solutions for mission-critical environments. You will support the sales process by delivering technically sound solutions tailored to data centre applications, working closely with internal teams, clients, and key stakeholders across the project lifecycle.
The position is based in London, but applications are welcomed from candidates across the UK who are open to relocating. Standard travel is expected in line with the role, including occasional site visits and customer meetings.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide pre-sales technical support to the commercial team for bespoke Data Centre Cooling systems, including adiabatic, liquid, evaporative, and close-control technologies.
* Conduct site surveys, interpret client requirements, and assist with system design/specification.
* Prepare technical proposals, equipment selections, and system schematics to support sales presentations.
* Work closely with design engineers and project managers to ensure solutions meet customer expectations and technical standards.
* Support customer meetings and presentations (virtually and in person).
* Liaise with contractors, consultants, and end users during system selection and installation.
* Maintain strong technical understanding of evolving HVAC/cooling technologies and data centre standards (e.g., ASHRAE, Uptime Institute).
* Represent the company at key events and customer-facing engagements as required.
Candidate Profile
* Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
* Proven experience in data centre or mission-critical environments.
* Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, particularly CRAC/CRAH, adiabatic/evaporative cooling, liquid cooling, or chilled water technologies.
* Commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical and sales priorities.
* Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Willingness to travel occasionally and be based full-time in London.
