The role
Our client, an industry leader in maritime training, is seeking a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Instructor - Fitter and Turner to join their permanent team at Portsmouth. This role is part of a major project initiative, which aims to modernise marine training to deliver royal navy engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivering workshop theory and practical instruction to Service and Civilian trainees to Foundation Degree/Defence standards
Preparing course documentation, assessing tests and examinations, and developing new course material
Maintaining and repairing training equipment and training aids
Providing subject matter expertise on courses delivered
Liaising with external authorities, ships, establishments, and other military units to provide technical support and advice
Working collaboratively within the marine project to ensure successful training delivery
Job Requirements:
Recognised apprenticeship or relevant training in fitting and turning processes, and recent experience in workshop skills
Experience in fitting, turning, milling, and grinding, along with the ability to interpret engineering drawings in accordance with BS8888
Minimum of five years post-apprenticeship experience in a relevant working environment
Ability to provide evidence of ability, experience, and qualifications
Desirable Skills:
Previous experience in a training/instructional role, though training in Defence instructional techniques will be provided
Experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
