Job summary To teach a range of clinical skills and practical procedures to undergraduate medical students as part of the Cambridge Medical School undergraduate medical curriculum. To assist in the co-ordination, preparation and delivery of the University of Cambridge formative reviews. The post involves the co-ordination of teaching equipment and simulators in the Clinical Skills Lab, as well as maintaining stock levels for teaching sessions. In addition, provide venepuncture, cannulation and ABG gases training for the new Foundation Doctors Year 1 during their Preparing for Professional Practice Week and Locally Employed Doctors / GP Trainees who have no experience of working within an NHS environment. Main duties of the job o Work under the guidance of the Clinical Sub Dean from Cambridge to ensure the delivery of the teaching programme for medical students on placement at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.o Organise and deliver clinical skills teaching as timetables, in line with the requirements of the undergraduate medical curriculum from the Cambridge Medical School.o Develop resources to facilitate the safe and effective delivery of practical skills for students in a ward setting, allowing a supported transition from the Clinical Skills Laboratory base to the ward environment.o To assist in the design and implementation of practical assessments throughout the undergraduate medical course as required by Cambridge Medical School.o To work in collaboration with clinicians and other key trainers throughout the Trust in order to ensure that the undergraduate skills training programme develops in response to identified clinical needs.o To maximise opportunistic teaching opportunities with individual students in the clinical environment.o To be actively involved in quality assurance processes to ensure that a high quality of training is being delivered and to encourage and support the principles of clinical governance.
