* Conduct and review complex fire risk assessments in line with the Trust’s risk‑based audit programme.

* Prepare comprehensive reports, action plans and recommendations to drive safety improvements.

* Ensure full compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, HTMs, and national best practice.

* Monitor completion of fire safety actions and ensure close‑out of identified deficiencies.

* Support the development and implementation of Trust‑wide fire policies, safety arrangements and procedural documents.

Training, Education & Culture

* Contribute to the Fire Safety Training Needs Analysis and deliver statutory/mandatory fire safety training (face‑to‑face, virtual and e‑learning).

* Promote a positive fire safety culture and support managers in fulfilling their responsibilities.

* Develop innovative fire safety training resources and evaluate training effectiveness.

* Provide advice and support to all levels of staff, including clinical, corporate and operational teams.

Incident Investigation & Reporting

* Attend and investigate fire‑related incidents, including those involving significant damage, injuries or potential fatalities.

* Produce detailed incident reports with root‑cause analysis and recommendations for improvement.

* Support reduction of unwanted fire signals through proactive monitoring, data analysis and improvement initiatives.

Strategic & Operational Support

* Support the Fire Safety Manager with Trust‑wide strategic planning and the development of improvement programmes.

* Liaise with external stakeholders including Fire Authorities, Estates teams, refurb contractors and clinical governance groups.

* Provide specialist technical advice for refurbishments, new builds and capital projects.

* Assist in management of the fire safety budget and procurement of fire safety equipment.

Leadership, Governance & Communication

* Communicate effectively with senior leaders, ensuring they understand their fire safety responsibilities.

* Participate in clinical governance, audits, inspections and monitoring programmes.

* Maintain up‑to‑date fire safety records, systems and performance data.

* Demonstrate professional leadership, promoting equality, diversity and Trust values.

What we’re looking for:

Qualifications

* Degree‑level education or equivalent fire safety competency (Fire Service College, FPA modules, or similar).

* NEBOSH National Fire Certificate (Desirable).

* Recognised Fire Risk Assessor qualification (Desirable).

* Evidence of ongoing professional development.

* Adult teaching qualification (Desirable).

Experience

* Strong understanding of fire safety within healthcare or similarly complex environments.

* At least two years’ experience working in a fire safety advisory role.

* Experience delivering fire safety training across multiple formats.

* Ability to undertake and document fire risk assessments to recognised standards.

* Knowledge of fire safety legislation, national fire code guidance and best practice.
