Teaching Assistant – SEND Specialist (ASC)
Location: Poole, Dorset
Start Date: February 2026
Contract: Full‑Time, Term Time Only
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consistent 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with ASC, supporting academic, social and emotional development
* Implement individual support strategies tailored to the pupil’s needs and learning style
* Promote positive behaviour, independence and engagement within the classroom
* Support access to the curriculum through adapted resources and visual supports
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure consistent and effective provision
* Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and feedback discussions
* Help maintain a calm, inclusive and structured learning environment
* Engage with training and professional development to support best practice in SEND
Key Requirements
* Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children with ASC or SEND
* Strong understanding of strategies to support pupils with autism in a primary school setting
* Calm, patient and empathetic approach to learning and behaviour support
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents
* Relevant TA or SEND qualifications desirable but not essential
* A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
