Post Title: Bairnshoose Health and Wellbeing Lead
Location: Can be based at any of our office locations in the Highlands Hours: 37 hours per week (can be negotiable)
Duration: Fixed Term until 01/04/2026 (but may have a further year of funding)
Salary: £50,861 - £59,159 p.a.

Job Purpose: An exciting opportunity (fixed term or secondment) has arisen for a health professional to support the development of the Bairnshoose service within Highland.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will assess and co-ordinate the health needs of children and young people who access the Bairnshoose. You will help to develop clinical pathways into other services required by children and young people, to aid their recovery from the negative impacts of experiencing or witnessing harm or violence.
Under article 24 of the United nations Convention on the Rights of The Child (UNCRC) children have the right to the best possible health. Using a rights based, trauma informed approach you will identify and understand the support needs of the child and their wider family. You will map out service requirements to meet the needs of children and young people and identify any gaps in provision, reporting them to the Bairnshoose strategic oversight board. You will work to the Bairnshoose national standards
Funding is agreed until March 2026 with the possibility of further funding until March 2027 You must be a registered health professional (Nurse/Midwife/AHP) with significant previous experience of child protection and its processes. You must hold a degree in a relevant subject and if further funding agreed, must be willing to undertake the PG cert in Child Welfare and Protection at Masters level. The overall vision of Bairns’ Hoose is that all children in Scotland who have been victims or witnesses of abuse or violence which has caused, or is likely to cause, significant harm will have access to trauma-informed recovery, support and justice. Bairns’ Hoose will also ensure that any child under the age of criminal responsibility whose behaviour may have caused serious harm or abuse will have access to trauma-informed, needs-focused support and recovery. Requirements
Essential Qualifications
1. Registered nurse/midwife/or other allied /health professional
2. Educated to degree level in an appropriate subject
3. Significant post registration experience at Band 6 or equivalent including in the spheres of child welfare and protection
4. Post Graduate Certificate in Child Protection (or must be prepared to undertake)
5. Driving Licence
Essential Experience
1. Post registration experience of issues in child Protection. Experience of co-working at local level across agencies and organisational boundaries.
