The Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Department incorporating Medical Electronics and Medical Engineering sits within the Estates Directorate. We are seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to work as a Medical Engineer
Medical Engineering is primarily concerned with providing maintenance to a wide range of highly complex diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment both within the Trust and in other Trusts by arrangement. Such equipment embraces electrical, electronic, and mechanical and software based technologies requiring both broad and specialist knowledge.

The quality of service and response is crucial, the post holder will communicate effectively with clinical staff, suppliers, manufacturers, contracts and procurement staff regarding maintenance of medical equipment acting as a first contact for advice.
This role is of vital importance and will require the individual to be proactive and highly organised individual who continually strives for service improvements.
You will provide outstanding customer service to our service users, taking a ‘can do’ approach to your duties. You will need to demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organisation.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a high quality preventative maintenance, repair, calibration, safety and acceptance testing service on beds, trolleys, patient hoists, mattress pump and other patient care equipment in acute and community hospitals, including electrical and mechanical equipment. Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for the regular cleaning and decontamination of specialist mattresses.
In addition the post holder will provide technical advice and training on both general and highly specialized equipment to ensure safe and efficient use by others. They will also liaise with and negotiate with clinical staff, suppliers, manufacturers, and contracts and procurement staff over the selection and maintenance of medical equipment acting as a first contact for advice.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
1. Qualifications, developed knowledge and experience in Electronics Engineering to NVQ4 level equivalence
Desirable criteria
2. BSc/BEng in an appropriate Electronics Engineering subject.
3. Member of an appropriate professional organisation
4. Possesses an up-to-date professional portfolio.
5. Registered as a Clinical Technologist
Knowledge / Experience
Essential criteria
6. Evidence of some post qualification medical equipment maintenance experience working in a relevant healthcare environment.
Desirable criteria
7. Specialist equipment training on complex multi-parameter medical equipment
Knowledge and Skills
