We’re looking for an experienced and driven Product Owner to join CNS in Southampton and play a key role in shaping and enhancing our suite of cloud‑based customs products. In this role, you’ll work closely with our development teams to translate business requirements into clear product features, manage a dynamic backlog of enhancements, and support the delivery of changes across our declarations platforms. This role is crucial to the design and delivery of CNS’s next-generation customs platform (CDMS). You’ll be the go‑to link between technology, commercial teams, and customer service, helping to resolve queries, support UAT testing, and ensure continuous improvement across our applications. This position is perfect for someone with a background in product or application delivery—ideally within logistics, customs, transport, fintech, or other regulatory‑heavy environments—who is passionate about delivering high‑quality software that meets the evolving needs of the industry.
Location: Southampton (Hybrid)
Hours: Monday – Friday – 9am – 5.30pm
How you will contribute:
* Own and manage product backlogs in collaboration with the Product Manager, BAs, and offshore dev teams
* Translate regulatory and operational needs into functional and non-functional requirements
* Monitor customs regulation changes and assess product impact
* Act as the link between business and technical teams to ensure accurate delivery
* Define system behaviour, user interactions, and technical specifications
* Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, and product rollout
* Ensure requirements are clear, testable, and well‑documented
* Assist QA and BA teams during testing and defect triage
* Contribute to user documentation, release notes, and support materials
* Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities
What you will bring:
* Experience in customs, trade compliance or logistics (desirable)
* Strong understanding of CDS, ENS, GVMS nd customs declaration processes (desirable)
* Ability to interpret regulations and apply them to product design
* Skilled in documenting requirements, user stories, and process flows
* Proficient with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps
* Strong communication and analytical skills
* Comfortable working in Agile or hybrid delivery models

* A full valid UK driving licence or appropriate international licence allowing you to drive on UK roads.
* No unspent criminal convictions.
* Due to manufacturing guidelines on equipment and site safety critical health and safety requirements, we have strict weight and medical requirements that need to be met and maintained. For our safety critical roles health and medical and fitness checks are performed. Requirements include, but are not limited to, weight, height, blood pressure and hearing.
