Job summary Are you a passionate Physiotherapist with a special interest in Upper Limb Rehabilitation? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Musculoskeletal (MSK) Outpatient team as a fixed term (ending 31 December 2026) Maternity Leave 0.53 (20hrs) Upper Limb Specialist Physiotherapist (ULSP) (Band 7). You should be forward thinking, dynamic and have the desire to develop and improve your skills and the Upper Limb service. A positive team-working attitude and ability to work autonomously is essential for this role. The MSK department has fully equipped spacious clinic rooms and both sites boast a well-equipped gym, which allows space for more intensive rehabilitation and regular group sessions. The ULSP role assesses and treats upper limb patients within fracture clinic and in the rehabilitation gym, supporting complex conditions, whilst also providing training and developing the upper limb service alongside the Orthopaedic Team. To apply for this role, it is essential that you have strong communication skills, experience working in an MSK Outpatient environment, and technical ability in assessing and treating Upper Limb patients. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical, teaching and managerial skills and be actively involved in service development. Interviews for this role will be conducted in person to assess relevant skills effectively. Main duties of the job The Highly Specialist Physiotherapist working with the Musculoskeletal Therapy Team develops the quality of the clinical service and staff that deliver it. The post holder will work using an enhanced level of practice applying specialist knowledge and skills in the field of Musculoskeletal Therapy, particularly the upper limb and shoulder. They will assess and treat a specialist complex caseload of patients and make clinical decisions for treatment plans. They will act as the profession specific lead to support the training and development of the clinical staff within the musculoskeletal therapy team and wider multidisciplinary team. To lead on service development, audit and assist in research initiatives to deliver on best practice evidence-based care in line with trust and national priorities. They will be responsible for the delivery of key quality performance indicators linked to providing high quality care. They will provide the link between the Rehabilitation Department and the Orthopaedic Shoulder consultants, working closely with the consultants within the orthopaedic fracture clinic.
