Role Overview
Bolton Adult Speech and Language Team are recruiting a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our acute team. The successful applicant will work with stroke and acute patients.
Your role will be to offer communication assessment, treatment and management of patients on the Acute Stroke Unit and across the other adult wards at Royal Bolton Hospital. Once Dysphagia training has been completed in post, your caseload will include patients with swallowing difficulties. You will be supported by other speech and language therapists at the hospital and by a speech and language therapy assistant two days a week.
You will work collaboratively with the Speech and Language Therapists from the community Stroke Service. We have good access to FEES and videofluoroscopy and there will be opportunities to develop your knowledge in these areas.
Responsibilities
* Work independently as a member of a multidisciplinary team at Royal Bolton Hospital, treating adults with acquired speech and language difficulties and dysphagia.
* Conduct assessments, differential diagnoses and treatments for patients with speech and language impairments, and for patients with acquired swallowing problems.
* Provide advice at case conferences and scheduled meetings, and collaborate with other health and social service professionals.
* Engage with patients, carers and external agencies to ensure the delivery of high quality services.
Professional Development
We offer CPD opportunities, regular supervision, peer supervision, and an excellent preceptorship programme. Successful candidates will be supported to complete RCSLT newly qualified competencies.
