Overview
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded accountancy practice in Abingdon for a Client Manager to join their busy general practice team. This role offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients, oversee accounting and tax services, and mentor junior colleagues while contributing to the growth and success of the firm. If you’re ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with proven practice experience, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your career as a trusted adviser and team leader.
The Role
As a Client Manager, your responsibilities will include:
* Managing a varied portfolio of clients, including limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
* Reviewing and finalising year-end accounts, tax returns, and management accounts prepared by the team
* Acting as the main point of contact for clients, maintaining strong and trusted relationships
* Overseeing and mentoring junior staff, supporting their training and professional development
* Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, legislation, and firm policies
* Assisting with workflow planning to ensure deadlines and budgets are met
* Identifying opportunities to provide additional services and supporting business development initiatives
* Liaising with partners and directors to ensure high-quality client service delivery
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
* Be ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with strong experience in general practice
* Have a proven track record of managing client relationships in a practice environment
* Demonstrate strong technical knowledge in both accounts and tax
* Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to advise clients directly
* Show leadership qualities, with experience supervising or mentoring team members
* Be highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
* Be commercially aware, proactive, and eager to contribute to the firm’s growth
