Assembly & Test Inspector
Job Title: Senior Quality Inspector (Assembly & Test)
What we are looking for
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Quality Inspector to support inspection activities across our Assembly and Test operations.
The location of this position is Havant, Porstmouth.
The ideal candidate will have broad experience performing goods-in, in‑process, and final inspections on a variety of engineered components, including elastomers, metallic parts, and composite materials. This role is critical to ensuring product compliance, process control, and overall manufacturing quality.
Key Responsibilities
Goods-In Inspection
1. Inspect and verify incoming materials, components, and assemblies against purchase specifications, drawings, and certificates of conformity.
2. Perform dimensional checks using a range of calibrated inspection equipment.
3. Identify and document non-conforming materials and assist in root-cause investigations.
In‑Process Inspection
4. Conduct routine in‑process inspections on the shop floor to support production quality and ensure processes are being followed.
5. Verify compliance with manufacturing and quality plans, work instructions, and engineering drawings.
6. Work collaboratively with production, assembly and test teams to prevent defects and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Final Inspection
7. Perform detailed final inspections on completed products prior to release or dispatch.
8. Complete inspection reports, certificates, and relevant quality and photographic documentation.
9. Ensure products meet customer specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Technical Skills & Experience
10. Proven experience as a Quality Inspector in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
11. Strong working knowledge of inspecting elastomers, metallic components, and composite bearing materials.
12. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and geometric tolerances.
13. Competence with manual and digital inspection tools and gauges (e.g., micrometers, verniers, height gauges, dial indicators).
14. Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar).
15. Experience with non-conformance reporting

Experience & Qualifications
21. Experience/background of working in a production/engineering environment is essential.
22. Ideally educated to college standard, mechanical apprenticeship or solid experience working in manufacturing industry.
23. Understand Health & Safety environment/procedures.
24. Read and understand drawings is essential.
25. Minimum of 5 years mechanical inspection experience desirable.
26. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
27. Experience with ERP/MRP systems for traceability and inspection recording.
