Overview
We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will head a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals. The ECU lead will steer financial investigations to align with obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), continually improving how we work. This is a hybrid role with travel across the country for meetings and operational duties.

Responsibilities
* Provide strong leadership to two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; manage performance and work delivery across a dispersed team.
* Act as strategic lead for the management of financial investigations under POCA; continually improve processes and documentation.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC); influence at senior levels to align EA priorities with enforcement partners.
* Support the wider organisation in understanding POCA, share lessons learned, and advise enforcement officers nationally.
* Contribute to the development of the ECU and the wider organisation’s capabilities in financial investigations and legal compliance.
Team and Environment
The ECU consists of two teams – Asset Denial and Money Laundering Investigations – comprising Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts. The unit is nationally dispersed and handles complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience / Skills Required
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team; strong understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Experience in the law enforcement sector and understanding of the National Intelligence Model.
* Strong communication skills, including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritise a varied workload, and identify areas for improvement; lead changes in working practices.
* Experience developing and enhancing the capability of a team and individuals within it.
Desirable / Additional Information
* Location: hybrid role; remote/home with occasional office work and travel.
* Incident response: may be required to have an incident role and provide business continuity support during incidents; additional payment may apply.
