You’ll work in a matrix organisation and report operationally through OMNIA Training Direct Branch and functionally through the Raytheon UK Engineering Management team Ultimately, you’ll work for the British Army, championing innovation, and helping shape the future of military collective training.

The Head of Training Design will lead the training design team and workstream within the OMNIA Training programme. This position is critical to the successful delivery of the Collective Training Transformation Programme (CTTP), ensuring that training design is delivered to meet the British Army’s needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building the training design team, forging links with the training analysis team, integrating with Military workforce, managing change, and ensuring that training solutions align with Army and LWC programme goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the Training Design Team

2. Accountable for all training events assigned to you and your team with regards to training transformation. An advocate for the creation of training content that is not only active and engaging, but also inclusive and learner centric.

3. Ensuring the processes that support the review and change of training courses follow the end-to-end training design process, are DSAT (Defence Systems Approach to Training) compliant, considering media enhancements, adherence to quality standards and are resourced appropriately for success. Proactively addressing, resolving and escalating any challenges that may impact delay to delivery.

4. Collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure training design is aligned to the current operational environment, the pacing threat and current British Army Doctrine.

5. Oversee the design, integration, and implementation of training solutions across the programme.

6. Ensure governance, risk management, and compliance standards are met throughout the transformation lifecycle.

7. Build and lead cross-functional team, fostering a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.

8. Monitor and report on progress, risks, and outcomes to Training Direct leadership.

9. Any other duties required to develop and support the Training Design Service.

Who we are looking for:

We’re after individuals who want to serve. You’ll have a mission focus, and the enthusiasm and drive to ‘get things done’. You’ll want to work in collaboration with other defence training organisations, and the British Army. You won’t let bureaucracy get in the way of what needs to be done, you’ll learn lessons and share these lessons across the team. You won’t necessarily have a military background, but you’ll understand what it means to serve and to put the mission first.

Essential Skills and Experience:

10. Proven experience in designing Collective Training Exercises for the British Army across the Live Virtual and Constructive Environments.

11. Strong background in JSP 822 and the DSAT process.

12. Deep understanding of management methodologies and best practices.

13. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and influence at all levels of an organisation.

14. Experience in programme governance, risk management, and benefits realisation.

15. Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.

16. Demonstrate attention to detail, a passion for quality and be able to plan and multitask.

17. Adopt a flexible approach to the role, adapt to evolving priorities.

18. Experience working in or with public sector or defence-related programmes.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

19. Experience with training and capability development programmes.

20. Familiarity with data-driven decision-making and digital transformation tools.

21. Knowledge and practical experience of UK Ministry of Defence procedures and policies.

22. Ability to foster innovation and drive cultural change within large organisations.

23. Experience in managing vendor relationships and third-party delivery partners.
