Specification Sales Manager – Flooring & Interior Products at Mitchell Maguire


Overview

The role of the Specification Sales Manager Flooring & Interior Products will involve field sales selling a full range of manufactured floor coverings/carpet tiles. The position focuses on promoting multi-loop and low level loop carpet tiles and some ranges of FRS (full repeatable scroll). The role targets selling into predominantly architects and interior designers, but also fit‑out contractors, property developers, universities, colleges, end users, building surveyors, letting agents, estate management, local authorities and main contractors. The role works alongside another trade field sales professional responsible for account‑managing direct flooring contractor accounts in the area.

Area covered: South West and South Wales. Inherit an area with turnover of approx. £750,000‑£800,000 and target revenue of £1.2 m. New business focus with a healthy project bank. Target commercial buildings (office blocks), education sector (schools, universities & colleges) and a small amount of healthcare. Utilise ABI leads and in‑house CRM database. Project sizes from 500 m², typically £10,000 upwards.


Responsibilities

* Field sales role selling a full range of manufactured floor coverings / carpet tiles.
* Promote multi-loop and low level loop carpet tiles, and ranges of FRS (full repeatable scroll).
* Sell into architects and interior designers (A&D), fit‑out contractors, property developers, universities, colleges, end users, building surveyors, letting agents, estate management, local authorities and main contractors.
* Work alongside another trade field sales professional responsible for account managing direct flooring contractor accounts.
* Inherit and develop an area with turnover of approx. £750,000‑£800,000 to achieve a target revenue of £1.2 m.
* Target commercial buildings such as office blocks, education sector (schools, universities & colleges) and small amount of healthcare.
* Utilise ABI leads and in‑house CRM database.
* Manage projects of 500 m² and above, typically £10,000 upwards.


Qualifications

* Proven track record of selling into the architects or interior designers (A&D) specification marketplace.
* Ideally experienced in the flooring/carpet industry.
* Open to selling interior products such as wall coverings, fabric, ceiling, partitioning or furniture.
* Have contacts within fit‑out contractors, universities, colleges, end users, building surveyors, letting agents, estate management and local authorities is not essential.
* Background in tactile sales rather than purely technical; sell something aesthetically pleasing, ideally floor-related.
* Carpet knowledge is not essential.
* High energy, passion and enthusiasm.
* Strong commercial and presentation skills.
