University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust are excited to invite you to apply for our Band 5 Staff Nurse Recruitment Day. If shortlisted, you will be invited to arrive for either a morning or afternoon session, when we will tell you more about our Trust, you will meet ward leaders from different departments and you will be interviewed on the day.

We at University Hospital Sussex have lots of opportunity for you across our trust. We run seven hospitals across Sussex. 2023 saw us open new buildings in Royal Sussex County Hospital, which allowed us to provide modern facilities for patients and staff in more than 40 wards and departments. This has allowed us to grow our workforce and provide amazing educational opportunities for staff to grow and develop in their careers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Expert Clinical Practice

6. To review patients on admission: ensure patients have timely access to appropriate investigations, referrals and assessments and that relevant personnel are informed.
7. Undertake clinical competencies relevant to nursing role.
8. To support staff when indicated in the management of challenging patients, families or situations.
9. To deal sensitively with patients and / or relatives / carers who may be exhibiting a high level of anxiety or aggression.
10. To be able to sympathetically convey unwelcome news to patients and / or relatives/carers regarding diagnosis and potential recovery.

We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration with NHS/Care Setting experience or soon to qualify students in education .

If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.
