Overall, Purpose of the Role A Machine Minder at Gosh is responsible for overseeing and maintaining production machinery to ensure smooth operations. You will be ultimately responsible for setting up machinery, monitoring the manufacturing machinery, ensuring machines run efficiently, safely and produce high-quality food products in line with company standards. This role requires technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. This role reports directly to the Shift Leader however will have a dotted line to the engineering team. This is a permanent factory-based role, which will require certain level of flexibility regarding working hours based on business requirement. Skills, Experience & Professional Qualifications Required Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment. Experience of monitoring and maintaining productivity of production lines within a manufacturing environment Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Have great attention to detail, and possess the ability to effectively manage simultaneous projects Possess a proactive, can-do attitude, full of great ideas and able to get stuff done autonomously. Flexible and adaptable to changes in priorities and demands Team worker High Level of Integrity Continuous Improvement Experience of building, motivating, developing, and improving a team IOSH Certified (or equivalent) Key Responsibilities Operating Equipment: Set up, run and monitor machines to maintain efficiency. Take responsibility for the documented Start Up Checks at the beginning of each shift Escalate complex technical and engineering faults by following the escalation process Forward planning by using the Supply Chain Plan to anticipate foreseeable changeovers and prep the machinery/lines in advance. Custodian of machine settings and product information and ensure the correct settings are used. When lines are idle, set up is required for future production to avoid delays. Record production data and machine performance. Manage machine change overs e.g. adjusting settings for different production runs. Troubleshooting & Repairs: Identifying and troubleshooting minor mechanical faults, root cause, performing minor repairs, and escalating major issues when necessary Liaise with engineering team to ensure any PPM inspections are completed and logged on E maint. Continuous line maintenance including but not limited to, oiling, lubricating, cleaning, resetting Perform routine start-up checks and autonomous tasks such as clean, inspect, lubricate on machines to ensure optimal performance. Take ownership of the 'maintenance hand back' forms by ensuring they are filled in and in place Quality Control: Ensuring products meet company standards and food safety regulations. Ensure production output meets quality and safety standards. Food Safety and Compliance Clean as you go. Maintain a safe, clean and tidy work environment to minimise risk Follow health and safety protocols at all times preventing hazards. General Provide on the job training to operators Cover for colleagues within the team. Carry out any other relevant task assigned by engineer and factory management Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams. Support in covering Shift Manager during peak periods or during absences.
