At Chatsworth, we care for one of the largest and most significant private collections in Britain, the Devonshire Collections, and our Collections team have a vital part to play in this.
As Collections Technician, you will provide the main technical support to the Collections department, undertaking the day-to-day care for the Devonshire Collection.
This is a very diverse role, focusing on the safe handling, movement and storage of the collection. It also includes the participation in key programmes, including the Preventive Conservation Programme, Conservation Programme, Annual Winter Programme, as well as Special Projects. You will also play a vital supporting role in the realisation of the Permanent and Temporary Exhibitions Programme.

This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday with occasional evening or weekend work, depending on the needs of the role. The role will be based at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.
About you
You will be an experienced collections technician and we’d love to hear from you if you have:
· A degree in a relevant field or equivalent technical ability.
· Demonstrable experience of working in an exhibitions, museum or historic house environment.
· Experience which includes the handling & movement of a diverse range of contemporary and historical objects as well as the ability to deliver on the installation & display of objects for exhibitions.
· Good manual dexterity and eye-to-hand skills and ability to work from ladders and tower scaffold.
You must be willing to undergo a Basic Disclosure and ideally hold a valid driver’s license to enable you to transport art works.
