Overview
As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.
Responsibilities
* Provide Memex training to area teams and promote the use and benefits of Memex; improve the quality of intelligence submissions.
* Deliver face-to-face training to area staff on our Intelligence system, MEMEX.
* Provide support and training to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
* Supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of quality in submissions.
* Create entities from Memex submissions.
* Provide regular reports on performance and give feedback on ways to improve performance.
* Ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions.
* Other duties commensurate with the role.
* Respond to incidents as part of an incident role; be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during incidents (this may attract an additional payment and full training). Alternative working arrangements will be provided to support the incident role.
Experience and Skills / Qualifications
* A good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems.
* An ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams.
* Excellent influencing skills, ensuring Memex use is the norm and safety checks are mandatory.
* Success in building strong, effective relationships.
* Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on ways to improve intelligence submission performance.
* Strong self-management and organisational skills.
* Great teamwork to support colleagues in achieving common goals.
Location, Travel and Working Arrangements
* You will need to be comfortable with working in a dispersed team. Location is flexible and we support smarter ways of working through a mix of home and office working; however travel to Birmingham and other offices where staff are based will be required on occasions.
* Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October.
