Prospero Teaching are working with a welcoming and well-respected specialist school in Halesowen who are looking for a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school supports pupils aged 4 to 19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), complex communication needs, and a range of cognitive and learning difficulties.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a nurturing, inclusive environment and wants to help young people grow in confidence, independence, and achievement.
🧩 Your Role Will Include:
1. Working closely with individual pupils or small groups to support learning and engagement.
2. Helping deliver structured routines and visual communication strategies tailored to each student’s needs.
3. Supporting students in developing their social, emotional, and communication skills.
4. Providing personal care when required, and supporting with daily routines.
5. Collaborating with a team of teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure a consistent and positive learning journey.
🟢 What We’re Looking For:
6. Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally ASD and communication needs.
7. A kind, adaptable, and resilient personality.
8. Confidence in working within structured environments and following individual support plans.
9. Willingness to assist with personal care and physical support if needed.
10. Experience with Makaton, PECS, or sensory approaches to learning.
11. A background in education, care, or health and social care.
12. An understanding of complex communication and the importance of visual and structured support.
