Industrial Refrigeration Engineer (Ammonia)
Location: Southeast England
Salary: Up to £65,000 pa depending on experience
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
We’re working with a long-established, privately-owned refrigeration contractor who’ve built a reputation in industrial ammonia and commercial plant refrigeration across the UK. Unlike the standard service firms, they specialise in large-scale NH3 systems, complex plant, and mission-critical environments. The kind of projects that demand real expertise, not just routine maintenance.
They’re now looking for an experienced Refrigeration Engineer with strong ammonia handling knowledge to join their team.
What you’ll be doing
Service, maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial refrigeration systems (NH3 and associated plant)
Fault-finding and maintaining both new and existing installations to industry best practice
Working both independently and as part of a close-knit team
Supporting UK-wide clients with occasional travel and on-call duties
What we need from you
Refrigerant handling certification (C&G 2079 or equivalent)
Ammonia safe handling training
At least 2 years’ hands-on experience in refrigeration engineering (industrial plant or large-scale commercial systems)
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK
Nice to have
Knowledge of SCADA, RDM or electrical controls
Commissioning and testing experience
IPAF or CSCS card
Pay and Hours
Monday to Friday – 40 hour + 10 hours travelling
Up to £65,000 pa depending on experience
