Job Title: Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Manchester
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 (depending on experience)
An established Civil, Geotechnical and Structural Engineering Consultancy based in Manchester is looking to appoint an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with around 5 years' consultancy experience to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering a broad range of residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects across the North West and wider UK.
The Role
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering technically sound and commercially aware geotechnical solutions. You will be involved in projects from initial site appraisal through to detailed design and construction support.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing and managing ground investigation programmes
Producing and reviewing geotechnical interpretative reports (GIRs)
Foundation design (shallow and deep foundations)
Retaining wall and slope stability analysis
Settlement assessments and earthworks design
Liaising directly with clients, contractors, and internal structural/civil teams
Mentoring junior engineers and supporting their technical development
Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
Requirements
5+ years' experience within a geotechnical consultancy
Strong technical report writing skills
Experience in foundation and retaining structure design
Familiarity with UK standards (Eurocodes)
Proficient with industry software (e.g. Slope/W, Oasys, Plaxis or similar)
Strong communication skills and commercial awareness
Working towards Chartership (ICE or equivalent)
