Main duties of the job
* Carry out planned vaccinations for a group of patients without direct supervision
* Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based individualised patient care
* Assist and advice staff, both registered and unregistered, in the delivery of patient care and vaccinations
* Maintain accurate clinical records of the patient and plan vaccinations accordingly
* Undertake procedures in line with national protocols
* Have responsibility for the correct administration and custody of medicines according to Trust policy
* Monitor patients' progress, work towards safe and timely administration of vaccinations and ensure barriers are identified and acted on appropriately
* Act as the patient's advocate
* Ensuring pregnant women/people and newborn babies with incomplete/unclear immunisation schedules are fully supported to receive appropriate vaccinations
* Ability to demonstrate an awareness of public health concerns, i.e. Domestic violence, child abuse, etc. and make appropriate referrals

* Registered Nurse
* 6 months experience in healthcare
Experience
* Previous experience of speciality
* Experience of immunisation
* Experience in a clinical environment
Skills
* Ability to organise ward activities and to use initiative Ability to solve problems and contribute new ideas
* Competency in medication
* Skills required to undertake clinical activity related to speciality
* Knowledge of quality, standard setting and audit
