Senior Safety & Environmental Manager

This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone experienced in UK MoD Safety and Environmental processes to join the business.
Marshall Land Systems is a key partner in a UK consortium developing new electronic systems for the UK MoD, providing critical capabilities for UK Armed forces. Your role will ensure these systems are developed and deployed with proper safety and environmental standards.
You will be part of a CORE management team, acting as an extension to the UK MoD safety and environmental team. Your experience will guide advice and assurance to UK MoD, oversee teams developing advanced equipment, with travel within the UK required.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Establishing and maintaining project Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS) for defence contracts, in line with current policies and legislation, including maintaining a Safety and Environmental Management Plan (SEMP).
* Serving as the primary contact for all Safety and Environmental matters with stakeholders.
* Implementing and managing the SEMS based on Defence policies, including MOD ASEMS.
* Monitoring, reporting progress, and achieving safety and environmental targets.
* Advising project teams on safety and environmental feasibility of technical solutions.
* Performing internal S&E audits and liaising with Independent Safety and Environmental Assessors (ISEAs).
* Ensuring timely delivery of Safety and Environmental documentation and reports.
* Keeping updated with defence safety and environmental standards and legislation.
* Supporting safety and environmental engineers with reporting and assessments.
* Planning and leading Safety and Environmental working groups and meetings.
* Conducting audits and supporting independent auditors.
* Investigating safety incidents and recommending improvements.
Qualifications and experience required:
* Stakeholder management across multiple companies
* Experience with e-Cassandra for defence hazard logs
* Environmental impact management experience
* Understanding of ASEMS and related defence standards and legislation
* Knowledge of defence guidance and legislation (JSPs, DSA, etc.)
* Experience applying IEC 61508 and SILs
* Knowledge of RADHAZ management
* Experience managing S&E for electronic systems, especially programmable systems
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Previous defence project experience aligned with ASEMS
* Ability to obtain UK MoD Security Clearance
