Mechanical Craftsperson

Full time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week)
08:00 – 16:00 (7.5 hours per day)
£30,252 – £35,747 per annum plus benefits
We are seeking a Mechanical Craftsperson to join our Estates department at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. This role provides an opportunity to work in a diverse engineering environment, develop your skills, and support the NHS and local community.
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, you will be part of the engineering team delivering planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the hospital site as part of Serco’s Hard FM estates service to the NHS.
Your responsibilities include maintaining the hospital’s building fabric, plant, services, and equipment to high standards, ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability. You will work on various systems including:
* Medium Temperature Hot Water systems
* Steam systems, pipelines, and safety devices
* Hot and cold water systems including service tanks and calorifiers
* Hydrotherapy pools
* Medical gas systems
* Decontamination equipment
* Ventilation and air handling systems
* Pump overhauls and equipment repairs
* Systems balancing and testing
An understanding of electrical and building management/control systems is advantageous.
Requirements:
* Completion of a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or relevant structured training program, with City & Guilds and/or BTEC certification (minimum NVQ Level 3)
* Experience in a similar environment
* Knowledge of Mechanical Building Services
* Professional approach with strong health and safety awareness
* Effective communication and customer service skills
* Ability to work under pressure
