Technical Compliance Manager
Location: Caerphilly
Salary: £45,000 - £52,000 per annum plus benefits
As a Technical Compliance Manager, you will lead the end-to-end responsibility for ensuring the technical, legal, and food safety compliance of all products destined for export to the EU and the UK domestic market. You will manage internal compliance systems, policies, and procedures to meet or exceed legal and customer standards. Working cross-functionally with key internal departments and external partners, you will play a critical role in driving a culture of compliance, food safety, and continuous improvement throughout the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage all products export to the EU ensuring full compliance with legal and technical requirements.
2. Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal compliance systems and procedures.
3. Generate and maintain up-to-date compliance policies and standard operating procedures.
4. Monitor and ensure adherence to emerging and existing food legislation (UK & EU), including HACCP, Supplier Quality Assurance.
5. Collaborate with technical, quality, production, NPD, commercial, marketing, and procurement teams to align on compliance and food safety matters.
6. Support internal and external auditing activities; lead the implementation of corrective actions to ensure ongoing compliance.
7. Manage specifications team workload and maintain specification accuracy and legal integrity.
8. Demonstrate working knowledge of customer standards through training, audit readiness, and compliance documentation.
9. Design and deliver internal training programs for food safety and legal compliance, aligned with UK-recognized qualifications.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Degree-level educational qualifications in food or regulatory subjects with sound technical knowledge.
2. Proven experience in a senior technical or compliance role within the food manufacturing or food service industry.
3. Practical experience with specification artwork packages.
4. Ability to work independently, managing workload and time effectively.
5. Solid understanding of food safety systems including HACCP, VACCP, and TACCP.
6. Experience leading audits.
