Employee Assistance Programme Salary Sacrifice schemes e.g. Cycle to Work etc. Free town centre parking What to Expect in the Role: You will work with communities, colleagues in other councils, stakeholders, local developers and Registered providers to promote the development of new affordable housing within Stratford district. You will work with other enabling officers to co-ordinate the implementation of the Council's housing enabling policies and programmes. You will work with planning colleagues to comment on planning applications and give guidance to colleagues on affordable housing policies and delivery. You will facilitate the forming and delivering of a wide variety of housing policies and strategies. You will be instrumental in shaping the housing landscape and ensuring residents have a good supply of quality homes in all areas, that meet a variety of needs. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details): This job description is not exhaustive and the postholder may be asked to carry out other tasks and duties as directed by their line manager. To actively promote the development of new affordable housing within the District, in response to identified needs, and to consider new initiatives to further this objective. To be responsible for the day-to-day facilitation of the Council’s housing enabling programme, including the management of specific projects where appropriate and operation of relevant procedures in relation to provision of grant support. To provide advice and information to planning staff on housing needs and the Council’s policies and practices as local housing authority, in order to justify planning requirements for affordable housing provision and facilitate new residential development in the most appropriate and sustainable form. To act as planning adviser to the Housing Team and the council’s partner housing associations, particularly in respect to the interpretation and implementation of planning policies and identification of potential sites for affordable housing schemes. To oversee and facilitate the implementation of the Council’s enabling programme amongst its partner housing associations, through liaison with those associations, the Housing Corporation and any other relevant internal or external bodies. To liaise corporately and externally to secure legal agreements relating to the provision of affordable housing. To be aware of your responsibilities in terms of health and safety, including identifying at your appraisal, appropriate health and safety training. To ensure that you approach your duties taking into consideration the principles of Best Value. To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post and grade as may be assigned by the Housing strategy and Development manager To participate in joint working groups and actively work in partnership across the Council and with external agencies to further the Authority’s strategic housing objectives. To prepare relevant reports. What You’ll Need (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details): Degree level qualification in a housing strategy & development related field Experience of working with communities, developers, Registered providers and council planners. Able to deal with contentious and confidential matters with diplomacy and tact. Enthusiastic, positive and can-do approach and ability to use initiative and build strong relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders.
