As a Design Engineer within Kier Design, you'll deliver civil and structural engineering services across a range of infrastructure projects. Responsibilities
As a Design Engineer, you'll be working within the Structures & Geotechnical team, supporting them in delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions. Your day to day will include:
* Deliver Permanent Works design across Kier Design's infrastructure portfolio
* Design safe, buildable, cost‑effective solutions from concept to delivery
* Provide technical input to bids, providing buildable, innovative concepts
* Develop alternative designs and value engineering solutions to strengthen competitiveness
* Review and provide technical assurance of third‑party designs, ensuring compliance with client and Kier requirements
* Identify and manage technical risks across design and construction stages
* Undertake site visits, inspections and surveys and provide advice on SHE matters
* Fulfil Job Leader responsibilities, including client liaison, fee/programme input, design delivery, workload planning and compliance with Kier Quality Management Systems
Qualifications
* You hold a Level 6/7 qualification and are working towards professional qualification with a relevant industry body (e.g. ICE, IStructE).
* Proven experience delivering civil and structural infrastructure design.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
* Experience with rail or water sector standards.
* Knowledge of WIMES or Minimum Asset Standards.
* Exposure to water or wastewater treatment environments.
* Previous M&E design experience (e.g. simple hydraulics, pump selection).
