Science Teacher - SEN School Location: Chingford Start Date: ASAP 2025 Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: MPS/UPS SEN Allowance (dependent on experience) About the Role We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Science Teacher to join a dedicated team at our special educational needs (SEN) school in Chingford, supporting students aged 6 -16 with a primary focus on visual impairment, as well as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and ADHD. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a setting where science is taught in creative, sensory-informed ways that meet individual learning needs. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging and accessible science lessons tailored to students with a range of SEN, particularly those with visual impairment Work closely with specialist staff, including VI teachers and support assistants, to adapt resources and learning strategies Contribute to EHCP reviews, planning, and monitoring of student progress Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment Participate in whole-school SEN training and development Candidate Requirements Essential: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Experience or strong interest in teaching pupils with SEN, particularly ASD, ADHD, or visual impairment Ability to differentiate lessons and adapt teaching for individual needs Excellent classroom management and communication skills Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice Desirable: Experience working in a special school or SEN setting Knowledge of accessible formats (e.g. large print, tactile diagrams) Familiarity with or interest in Braille (training provided if not experienced) Why Join Us?
