Vacancy Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified professional to join the school-age neurodevelopmental (ND) assessment team as a Neurodevelopmental Practitioner. The team delivers high quality assessment for school-age children with suspected neurodevelopmental conditions. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologists, a speech and language therapist and mental health practitioners. This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and transferable skills in a supportive team environment. The Neurodevelopmental Assessment team is part of the Children and Young People\'s Mental Health service (CYPMHS) and the role will include interface and liaison with the wider CYPMHS service.
This is a varied position primarily based in the ND assessment clinic. The post holder will participate in delivering all aspects of neurodevelopment assessment clinics, including parental interview, structured assessment and observations, liaison with other professionals, contribution to MDT discussions and decision-making following assessment and report writing. The role requires excellent communication skills as families are liaised with prior to and throughout the assessment journey. There may be opportunities to be involved in wider aspects of the ND assessment pathway and the wider CYPMHS service.
We are committed to enabling the development of staff through access to CPD training and events and offering high quality supervision. The role will mostly be office/clinic based at sites across Leeds with some opportunities for home-working dependent on service need. There are full time and part time posts available.
Responsibilities
* Deliver all aspects of neurodevelopment assessment clinics, including parental interview, structured assessment, observations and MDT discussions.
* liaise with other professionals and families throughout the assessment journey; contribute to decision-making following assessment and report writing.
* Interface with the wider CYPMHS service as appropriate.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team to provide high quality assessment and support for school-age children with suspected neurodevelopmental conditions.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Qualified professional with experience of specialist assessment in neurodevelopmental conditions.
* Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with families and a multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to work across clinic and office settings with flexibility for home-working where appropriate.
* Commitment to CPD and supervision within a supportive team environment.
