Location: Based at UET Stratton Road, Swindon SN1 2PN but will also be expected to work at other Company sites or other addresses as necessary from time to time.

Hours: Full-Time 37 hours a week - Monday to Friday

Salary: £51,772 - £57,137 per annum

Reports to: Director of Operations

The Role

We are proud to announce that UET has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Service role. We are seeking a proactive, compassionate, and organised Head of Service to work as part of our senior leadership team at UET. This senior leadership role involves the oversight and management of the quality assurance and compliance of UET's services. The Head of Service will work collaboratively with the Head of Business to support the Director of Operations with the strategic leadership of the charity. You will ensure that the organisation operates efficiently and safely whilst constantly improving and optimising its service delivery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of talented mangers, senior leaders, and support worker and wider support team and in doing so, you will foster an environment that encourages growth and development while promoting collaboration and innovation.

Responsibilities

· Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead

· Monitor and respond to safeguarding concerns across the organisation

· Analyse trends in behaviour, incidents, and safeguarding issues

· Lead on quality assurance and compliance, reporting directly to the board

· Ensure policies and practices meet legal and regulatory standards

· Conduct audits and support continuous improvement

· Observe and support staff performance and training needs

· Manage the staff training matrix

· Maintain strong relationships with staff and young people

· Support the induction process for new staff

· Help improve systems and processes where needed

· Assist with planning and developing UET services

· Build positive relationships with families and external partners

Essential skills & requirements

Person Specification

Essential

Foundation degree or Level 5 Diploma in a relevant field such as social Work (e.g. BA or MA in Social Work), psychology, education, special educational needs (SEN) or nursing

Leadership & Management Experience, minimum two years

Quality Assurance & Compliance Expertise, minimum two years

Compassionate Approach to Behavioural Support evident in previous roles

Organisational & Change Management Experience

Desirable

Experience and understanding of the principles and practice for Safeguarding young people or vulnerable adults

Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead

Trained in Team Teach or Medication Administration.

Experience working with young people with learning disabilities or challenging behaviour.

Full undergraduate degree or Level 6 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.

Full UK driving licence.

Strong IT and reporting skills.

Experience supporting and developing colleagues

Confident team leader and motivator.

Able to professionally represent UET.

Skilled in training and time management.

Calm and solution-focused under pressure
