Role description:
Arcadis is actively seeking an Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineer with 3 or more years of experience to join our Water Division team in Wakefield, MA. You will be part of a larger dynamic SCADA / I&C team serving customers in the Northeast Region.
This is an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to work on projects involving SCADA and instrumentation automation and technology. You will provide technical and system integration services for clients in industrial and municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities, supported by a highly qualified consulting firm and a nationally recognized technical staff.
Role accountabilities:
* Specifications: Prepare engineering specifications, drawings, and perform calculations supporting control systems for various water/wastewater processes, including reports, studies, and calculations.
* Cross-Collaboration: Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines; review manufacturer info for compliance.
* Programming: Develop P&IDs, control schematics, panel layouts, and instrument installation details. Configure control logic in PLCs/OITs and set up graphical HMIs, data archiving, and reporting tools.
* Travel: Travel to client sites and other Arcadis offices as needed for project meetings and site visits, with minimal travel expected.
* Project Ownership: Manage small projects or tasks within larger projects, multitask effectively, and demonstrate skill for increased responsibility.
Required Qualifications:
* 3+ years of experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, or related engineering field
* EIT certification or ability to obtain within 1 year; eligibility for Professional registration
* Basic knowledge of PLC controls, SCADA, IT, and field networks
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, Outlook)
* Valid driver’s license, clean record, willingness to travel (25%)
Preferred Qualifications:
* Control signals and systems, instrumentation, water/wastewater process control classes, PLC/HMI coursework
* AutoCAD knowledge
* Experience on water and wastewater projects
* PLC/HMI programming experience

Benefits & Compensation:
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, recognition programs, optional wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance, and tuition reimbursement. Paid holidays and PTO are provided. The salary range is $88,000 - $140,000, based on experience, education, and other factors.
