Grade – 6
Site: Vale Drive Primary Health Care Centre/ Oak Lane Clinic/ Grahame Park Health Centre

Contract: Fixed Term Maternity cover 6 months

Hours: 37.5hrs (1.0 WTE)

Role

We are looking to hire a full time 1.0 WTE Band 6 Orthoptist for 6 months to cover maternity leave starting 1 December 2025 (previous clinical experience is desirable but not essential).

We are looking for somebody with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a positive and innovative approach to service development and a commitment to working within a multi-disciplinary team.

Band 6 Orthoptic post provides an exciting opportunity to work in CLCH community Paediatric Eye Service in the Borough of Barnet. The post holder will be a member of the dynamic multi-disciplinary Orthoptic/Optometrist team, working with a paediatric caseload. This will include assisting in running Orthoptic clinics in CLCH community clinics. You will be responsible for the assessment and management of children. You will be required to communicate complex needs and provide training to junior staff and support Orthoptic students on placement. You should have good organisational skills, a commitment to multi-disciplinary working and an understanding of working alongside services. Responsibilities

* Assess and manage paediatric patients as part of the Orthoptic/Optometrist team.
* Assist in running Orthoptic clinics in CLCH community clinics.
* Communicate complex needs to colleagues and patients and provide training to junior staff and Orthoptic students on placement.
* Work within a multi-disciplinary team and support service development.


Qualifications/Requirements

* Band 6 Orthoptist (experience desirable but not essential).
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Commitment to multi-disciplinary working.
* Ability to work with paediatric caseload.
