Due to continued growth, we are now looking to recruit a Pre-Construction Manager to join the infrastructure team based out of our Burton Upon Trent office, whilst also covering our Bury St Edmunds office.
Our Infrastructure team delivers M&E projects for customers in Defence, Retail, Rail, Commercial, Industrial, and Healthcare sectors across England.
The Pre-Construction Manager will be responsible for estimating and bid writing, supporting the team with business development efforts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This pivotal role requires strong leadership to support the Operations Director in delivering profitable growth for an already successful business.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage work-winning activities from business development to securing an order/contract and handing over the opportunity to the Operations team.
* Develop and deliver a pre-construction strategy aligned with business objectives, emphasizing quality and profitable new business.
* Support the SMT in researching and developing new business opportunities across various streams.
* Engage with clients to describe and sell our offerings, including mechanical and electrical engineering services such as Data and Network Solutions, Process, Panel Manufacturing, and general Building and Technical Services.
* Stay updated on marketplace needs and shifts, identifying potential new clients and opportunities.
* Manage the estimating team (currently 2 electrical and 2 mechanical estimators) to ensure accurate prime costs.
* Identify and challenge value engineering savings at tender stage.
* Support the commercial team in risk management.
* Create impactful presentations showcasing MARCH’s capabilities.
* Write detailed bid proposals highlighting our unique strengths to secure targeted opportunities.
* Manage the CRM system to ensure data accuracy and currency.
* Create and maintain a realistic sales pipeline.
* Lead all PQQ submissions with support from SHEQ and operations teams.
Skills and Experience
* Experience in pricing MEP building services, including LV & HV infrastructure, lighting, small power, data networks, HVAC, LTHW, and renewables (desirable).
* Proven track record in strategy development and implementation to drive growth.
* Excellent listening, questioning, and consulting skills.
* Strong people management skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Excellent proposal writing and business development skills.
* Proven teamwork ability.
* Car owner/driver.
Qualifications
* UK Driving License.
