Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Educational Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupils at our partner autism specialist school in Lyndhurst, Hampshire.
About the Role
As a 1:1 Educational Assistant, you will work closely with primary-aged pupils, offering consistent, individualised support throughout the school day. Your role will include:
1. Building a positive, trusting relationship that helps the pupil feel safe, understood, and confident.
2. Supporting the pupil’s emotional regulation, communication, and engagement in learning.
3. Breaking down tasks, offering reassurance, and encouraging independence at a pace that suits the pupil.
4. Using proactive, autism-informed and trauma-aware strategies to help the pupil navigate challenges.
5. Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, therapists, and external professionals to ensure the pupil receives well-rounded support.
6. Helping the pupil develop social communication skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging within the school community.
What We’re Looking For
7. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
8. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with young children.
9. GCSE English & Maths (grade C/level 4 or above).
10. Experience supporting children with autism or additional needs is highly desirable.
11. An understanding that behaviour is a form of communication and a commitment to positive, relationship-based support.
12. Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive mindset.
13. Experience in education, youth work, care, or similar settings is beneficial, though passion and commitment are equally valued.
Role Details
14. Hours:
Mon-Tue: 08:30-16:30
Wed-Thu: 08:30-16:00
Fri: 08:30-15:00
15. Contract: Term-time only / Temp-to-Perm
16. Pay: From £14 per hour
17. Location: Lyndhurst, Hampshire

19. Enhanced Child Barred List DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
