Socode are supporting a key client who are developing advanced imaging solutions for next-generation Earth observation missions. As their programme activity continues to scale, they’re looking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects.
This is a leadership role focused on driving programmes from early concept through to launch and deployment. You’ll sit at the centre of engineering, delivery, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring projects remain aligned on scope, timelines, cost, and risk in a fast-moving and technically demanding environment.
What will you be doing?
• Leading the full lifecycle delivery of complex engineering programmes, from concept through to deployment
• Building and managing detailed project plans covering scope, timelines, cost, and risk
• Coordinating cross-functional teams across mechanical, optical, software, electronics and systems engineering
• Driving progress through key development and review stages
• Establishing clear governance structures and leading project reviews and reporting
• Managing budgets, forecasts, and overall financial performance of programmes
• Proactively identifying risks, resolving issues, and controlling project changes
• Acting as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, customers, and external partners
• Supporting delivery of funded programmes, ensuring milestones and reporting requirements are met
• Keeping teams aligned and maintaining delivery momentum across multiple concurrent workstreams
What are they looking for?
• Strong track record delivering technically complex projects within engineering or advanced technology environments
• Confident managing multiple stakeholders while keeping projects on track commercially and technically
• Structured approach to planning, prioritisation, and risk mitigation
• Comfortable working close to the detail while still maintaining a big-picture view of delivery
• Naturally proactive, with the ability to remove blockers and drive progress without constant direction
• Clear communicator who can engage effectively with both engineers and senior leadership
Nice to have
• Background in space, aerospace, defence, or other highly regulated / high-reliability sectors
• Experience working on externally funded programmes or government-backed projects
• Understanding of full product or system lifecycle, from development through to production or deployment
• Familiarity with industry standards or structured engineering frameworks
• Exposure to common project tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms
• Formal project management qualifications (e.g. APM, PRINCE2, PMP)
