The Jack Kane Community Centre is looking to recruit an experienced and innovative Youth Development Worker to leadon our new Unmasking Masculinity Project, funded through the National Lottery: Young Start.
Unmasking Masculinity is a 3 year project that will work alongside young men (11-21yrs of age), as equal partners, onthe theme of positive masculinity. Through a youth-led and co-production approach, the successful applicant willwork alongside young people to provide a peer prevention/education and early intervention approach to youthviolence and gender stereotypes.

We have a vacancy for an Educational Support Worker to deliver an effective casework and group
work service to young people experiencing a range of challenges such as non-attendance at school,
low attainment, lack of confidence, poor mental health and family poverty.
The successful candidate will:
* Support young people to gain employability skills, life skills and accreditation; helping them in to work,apprenticeships, further education or vocational training
* Provide vocational/industry specificaccreditation and training to groups of young people alongside individual support to address particularbarriers
* Take the lead on the service and to provide an effective interface between young people,partners and stakeholders involved in the service

Role description: responsible for ensuring that the recruitment of volunteers and young members inGirlguiding Edinburgh is effectively promoted and managed through the Girlguiding online membership system (GO),while ensuring all necessary compliance checks are completed in line with Girlguiding and Disclosure Scotlandpolicies.

Location:This is a hybrid role. Working from home with attendance in the office at 16 CoatesCrescent, Edinburgh, EH3 7AH one day a week (to be agreed). Attendance at recruitment fairs and events will bepart of the role.
Job description and key responsibilities:
* Monitor and maintain the Girlguiding GO membership system to ensure compliance in line with Girlguiding policies:
o Respond to new enquiries and gathering additional information from applicants
o Liaise with local commissioners to match prospective volunteers to units requiring help (where no commissioner placed, liaise directly with leaders)
o Follow- up with each new volunteer after first unit visit to assign role and arrange/conduct recruitment checks (PVG and safer guiding safeguarding training) in timely manner
o Conduct weekly reviews of enquires, disclosures and safer guiding training progress to ensure compliance in line with internal and external policies
* Support and help leaders and commissioners using the Join Us/GO system
* Conduct regular review of volunteer needs throughout the city of Edinburgh
* Complete monthly reports on volunteer and enquiry numbers
* Work with Girlguiding Edinburgh’s executive team as membership coordinator, continuously improving volunteer and young member recruitment and retention processes
* Support lead volunteers in proactively raising awareness of opportunities to attract new members and volunteers
* Proactively seek new opportunities to recruit volunteers and young members (social media, volunteer platforms, recruitment events)
* Plan and assist in the delivery of welcome sessions for new volunteers
* Provide ad hoc administrative support to the county team as required (events, training, newsletter, minutes taking etc)
EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONS: prospective candidates must have basic accreditation to deliver physicalactivities/outdoor pursuits – although training may be provided to suitable candidate, external agencies will beused for advanced activities.
GY is looking for a youth worker with experience of delivering a physical activity programme activities programmesfor young people aged 11+. The successful candidate will develop and implement a programme to work with youngpeople, coordinating and designing the programme of activities, in conjunction with young people and networkingwith activity providers.
The post holder will deliver appropriate programmes to support and motivate young people to participate in theprovision - including planning, development, decision-making processes and evaluation.
You will be responsible for managing any support staff as well as project monitoring and evaluation.
Funding for 1 year contract, which may be extended.
