Thisis a varied and rewarding position combining prescription processing withgeneral administrative duties. The successful candidate will play a key role inensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our practice.


Main duties of the job

* Processing repeat prescription requests accurately and efficiently in line with practice protocols
* Liaising with GPs, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals regarding prescriptions
* Handling patient queries related to prescriptions in a professional and timely manner
* Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence
* Maintaining accurate patient records using clinical systems
* Supporting the reception and admin team with general administrative tasks as required
* Ensuring confidentiality and data protection standards are upheld at all times


About us

We are a large, well-established and forward-thinking GP training practice operating across two sites: Oldbury Health Centre and Walford Street Surgery. Serving a diverse population of approximately 24,000 patients, our modern premises offer excellent facilities, including a large on-site car park.

We are a patient-focused, highly motivated and progressive practice with a strong commitment to innovation, staff development and delivering excellent clinical care. As a training practice, we are passionate about supporting learning and professional growth within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our multidisciplinary team is large and diverse, comprising 5 GP partners, 8 salaried GPs, and a highly skilled nursing team of 10 members with a broad range of expertise. This is complemented by a variety of ARRS roles, enhancing our ability to meet patient needs. Our clinical staff are supported by an experienced and dedicated administrative team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Job responsibilities

To be responsible for the accurateand timely processing of prescription requests for the entitled population,liaising effectively with all relevant personnel.

Duties caninclude, but are not limited to, the processing of repeat prescriptions inelectronic and hard copy format, including online requests. In addition, thepost holder will be required to support the multi-disciplinary team, ensuringthe strategic objectives of the organisation are met, and providingadministrative support as required, in line with the needs of the organisation.Duties can include, but are not limited to, supporting the administration teamwith patient registration, booking appointments, and processing of information(electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner and in accordance with currentpolicies.

Also to support staff with thedistribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team,liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such assecondary care and community service providers.

The post-holder will be an integralpart of the general practice team.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* A good standard of education, with an expectation of having both GCSE Maths and English at Grade C (Level 4) or above, or Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
* Experience of administrative duties and/or as prescription clerk


Experience

* Experience of working with the general public
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting
