The Role:
Section Engineer will manage the construction site to meet project delivery goals, maintaining health and safety, quality, environmental standards, and cost control.
The role involves delivering multiple projects to quality, schedule, and budget targets, working closely with the Commercial Department, engineers, and surveyors to ensure safety and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set an example in safety and environmental practices.
* Supervise subcontractors, assistant and site engineers, ensuring they understand RAMS and work methods.
* Verify setting out accuracy and adherence to responsibilities.
* Maintain survey books and daily diaries, supporting management.
* Lead or participate in coordination meetings with stakeholders and subcontractors.
* Ensure drawings and specifications are complete and accurate, requesting missing information proactively.
* Complete and digitally record inspection and test plans, ensuring quality and dimension accuracy.
* Develop and monitor short-term programmes with subcontractors and suppliers.
* Ensure safe work conditions and compliance with policies.
* Manage materials, costs, and programme considerations.
* Prepare material requisitions and maintain related records.
* Complete and review Method Statements, Inspection Test Plans, and related documents.
* Order materials and maintain procurement records.
* Complete Temporary Works Design Briefs and inspect temporary structures after training.
* Foster good relations with clients, designers, and supply chain.
* Communicate clearly with foremen and gangers, documenting instructions and resource usage.
* Ensure cost coding of delivery tickets and processing by accounts.
* Perform other duties as required.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Management experience in construction engineering, particularly in MEP and utilities.
* Growing knowledge of commercial and contractual aspects.
* Experience working within budget constraints.
* Proven ability to manage subcontractors and stakeholders, including clients.
* Strong civil engineering technical knowledge.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Effective communication skills across levels.
* Computer literacy (advanced preferred).
* CSCS card required.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience at Heathrow Airport or in critical areas.
* International organization experience.
* Stakeholder management beyond the client.
* Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent.
