The Mission Systems business area is hiring a Lead Project Manager to lead the Counted Uncrewed Air System (CUAS) and Advanced EO Sensors Project Team (IPT).
* Key leadership of a cross‑functional team with diverse deliverables spanning both the business‑winning and project‑delivery aspects. Demonstrating and leading by example on the behaviours, skills and competencies expected of a lead PM.
* Lead and support key customer presentations, engagement and negotiations on behalf of the business.
* Consolidate complex customer, functional and technical dependencies into a consistent and informed project set of deliverables and outcomes.
* Work closely with the BA VP, Campaign Director & LoB CTO to drive long‑term objectives on this critical project and campaign area.
* Establish, develop and maintain relationships with the customer and suppliers throughout the entire lifecycle of the project, aligned to the internal Leonardo functions.
* Promote a culture of excellence in delivery, best practice implementation and knowledge exploitation within the IPT.
* Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all projects & bids are prepared, managed and reviewed appropriately and in line with Leonardo policies and standards.
* Conduct effective risk and opportunity management, ensuring that all risks and opportunities are recorded, managed and tracked to closure. Where mitigation activities are required, ensure that adequate support is provided to ensure they are undertaken.
* Establish clear success criteria/objectives for each member of the IPT and for the IPT as a whole, identify and manage the dependencies between IPT members.
* Establish the tailored lifecycle management framework (Project Plans, WBS, OBS and Cost/Control Accounts) that governs the operation of the IPT.
* Coordinate the activities of the IPT by establishing appropriate communication mechanisms, encompassing both meetings and reporting requirements.
* Work with the Work Package Management owners for the IPT, understanding the specific resource profiles and reporting to the value‑stream lead on critical dependencies between APS projects.
* Ensure team size and capability mix is optimised for successful delivery of all work packages.
* Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and the achievement of the project’s economic‑financial objectives, ensuring maximum value creation throughout the entire lifecycle of the project within the contractual constraints/commitments agreed with the customer.
* Monitor and control all activities and costs, defining and implementing corrective (or "recovery") actions required to tackle any deviations from the planned activities. Own the ETC and forecast forward load activities.
What You’ll Bring
* Typically degree qualified in a business or engineering related discipline (preferred).
* Usually meets the requirements for registration as a full member of the Association for Project Managers (APM) or equivalent.
* Ability to influence and motivate project teams (direct/indirect management).
* Demonstrated experience in a similar level project management role or discipline working with complex cross‑functional teams.
* Project‑management experience in early phases of the project execution lifecycle, including business‑winning phases, across several medium‑complexity projects or programmes involving both engineering and manufacturing.
* Experience or awareness of related functions such as commercial, procurement and quality assurance.
* Applies professional concepts in creative ways.
