Job Title: Software & Commissioning Engineer .
Role Overview This role involves developing control software, commissioning bespoke automated machinery, diagnosing system faults, and supporting customers both on-site and remotely. The position requires strong hands-on engineering capability, software expertise, and the ability to work across mechanical, electrical, and robotic systems.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Controls Develop control software and HMI interfaces for complex automation systems.
Program and integrate industrial robots (6-axis, SCARA, Delta).
Modify, enhance, and update existing machine control systems.
Commissioning & Testing Commission bespoke machines and control systems in-house and at customer sites.
Optimise machine processes to meet performance requirements.
Conduct functional testing, performance validation, and support Factory Acceptance (FAT) and Site Acceptance (SAT).
Diagnostics & Support Fault-find on control, safety, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Provide on-site customer support, troubleshooting, and servicing.
Deliver operator and maintenance training on equipment.
Compliance & Technical Standards Ensure electrical and safety systems comply with relevant UK, European, and international standards.
Support integration with associated equipment such as injection moulding machines (where required).
Communication & Collaboration Work closely with internal engineering teams, customers, and suppliers.
Provide clear technical updates and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Travel & Flexibility UK-wide and occasional overseas travel required.
Working hours may vary based on project or site needs.
Candidate Profile Technical Experience At least 10 years experience in automation machinery, controls, or commissioning.
Strong hands-on skills and expertise in software-based control systems.
Experience with Omron, Siemens, or Allen Bradley PLC platforms preferred.
Skilled in robot programming (6-axis, SCARA, Delta).
Understanding of electrical schematics, pneumatic circuits, and machine safety systems.
Experience interfacing with injection moulding equipment beneficial.

Flexible and able to work away at short notice when required.
