Job Description
West Dunbartonshire Council is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled Early Learning Childcare Officer to join our team at Ferryfield Early Learning and Childcare Centre.
Please note: This post is peripatetic and the successful applicant may be relocated to a different centre at any time, based on service needs.
Work pattern: Thursday and Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm with a 30‑minute unpaid break. This is a part‑time, term‑time post. The salary will be pro‑rated to hours worked and the role is fixed term until 26/06/2026.
Main Duties
* Contribute to the provision of a safe, caring, and stimulating nursery environment for all children.
* Support and implement a relevant curriculum in line with national and local guidance.
* Plan, record, implement, and evaluate suitable programmes of activities.
* Maintain and record children’s progress and assessments.
* Promote parental participation in the learning process.
Essential Criteria
* Experience working with pre‑five children in a relevant setting.
* Knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence (Early Level) and Pre‑Birth to Three guidance.
* A flexible approach and the ability to adapt to change.
Candidate must hold the NNEB (or modular equivalent), or an HNC in Childhood Practice, or SVQ2 Social Services (Children and Young People) or SVQ3 in Social Services (Children and Young People). Successful candidates who are not already registered with SSSC as practitioners will be required to gain registration within 3 months of appointment.
As this is a Regulated Role with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020, membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Successful applicants will need to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made.
