What prison officers do
Prison officers protect the public and help to make a positive impact on people’s lives. You’ll be required to work various shifts and weekends.
There is no typical prison officer. Our people come from different walks of life and you’ll have developed empathy, self-confidence and strong communication skills. You’ll build constructive, positive and professional relationships with offenders who could be at their lowest point in life. Teamwork is vital, so you’ll be fully committed to supporting colleagues and acting as one team to keep the prison, offenders and everyone who works here safe.
You will be required to work various shifts and weekends.
