Job Overview The post requires a senior interventional cardiologist to deliver independent cardiology services to inpatients and outpatients in a high demand area. The appointee will also undertake formal teaching, audit programmes, management duties and participation in a consultant on‑call rota.
Main Duties of the Job
CCU and Cardiology Ward rounds
Cath Lab sessions (elective and emergency/inpatient cases)
Timely review of patient results and investigations
Preparation of correspondence, reports and other documents as needed
Active role in the teaching of junior doctors
Participation in clinical audit
Other duties allocated by the Clinical Director to ensure proper patient care and department management (as mutually agreed)
Person Specification
Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice
MB ChB or equivalent
MRCP (UK) or equivalent
Higher degree in Cardiology Specific Training
Training
Relevant Cardiology courses and meetings attendance
Completion of Radiation Protection Course
Experience
Clinical duties including assessment, diagnosis and care planning of medical patients with safe discharge and follow‑up
Clinical practice in Cardiology
Ability to lead when appropriate
Ability to work independently
Skills
Teaching and training of other doctors and allied professionals
Clear written and spoken communication with other professionals
Ability to clinically assess published research and incorporate it into practice
Knowledge and experience of multidisciplinary audit principles and practice
