Due to continued growth we have opportunities in Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), Security Architecture, Threat & Vulnerability, and Operational Technology (OT) teams. As a Principal Consultant you will bring deep OT cyber‑security expertise and spearhead strategic engagements that build client trust and deliver innovative solutions.
Your role
* Lead OT Cybersecurity Programmes: Provide strategic leadership and oversight for multiple complex OT cyber security projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and risk appetite while protecting mission‑critical systems.
* Security Architecture & Innovation: Design and govern secure OT system architectures, implementing advanced controls such as network segmentation and hardened SCADA/ICS systems.
* Governance & Risk Management: Establish OT‑specific cyber‑security governance frameworks, conduct risk assessments and gap analyses using frameworks like NIST CSF and IEC 62443, and implement controls that meet regulatory requirements.
* Policy Development & Compliance: Develop enterprise security policies that comply with regulations such as the NIS Regulations and HSE OG‑0086 for critical infrastructures.
* Client Engagement & Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with senior executives and operational stakeholders, act as a trusted adviser, and manage stakeholder expectations to ensure high customer satisfaction.
* Project & Team Leadership: Oversee multiple project teams, mentor junior consultants, coordinate multidisciplinary efforts, and guarantee delivery on‑time and within scope.
* Thought Leadership & Business Growth: Serve as an OT cyber‑security thought leader, stay abreast of emerging threats and technologies, contribute to business development, and represent AtkinsRéalis at industry events.
About You
* Extensive OT Cyber Security Experience: Proven track record delivering technical consultancy in OT environments (energy, utilities, transportation) with deep knowledge of OT risks versus IT risks.
* Leadership & Delivery: Ability to spearhead teams and manage complex security engagements at live industrial sites, delivering results that meet client priorities and deadlines.
* Exceptional Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to explain complex cyber‑security concepts in clear, non‑technical language to engineers and C‑suite stakeholders.
* Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement: Strong organisational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks and projects under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
* Teamwork & Collaboration: Proven team player who can work independently or in multidisciplinary teams within a matrix organisation and influence without direct authority.
* Technical Mastery in OT: In‑depth knowledge of the OT system lifecycle and security technologies used in industrial control and SCADA environments.
* Standards & Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with IEC 62443, NIST CSF, NIS Regulations, HSE OG‑0086, and ability to apply these frameworks in practice.
* Security Clearance & Travel: Eligible for UK security clearance, willing to travel throughout the UK to client sites with flexibility for short‑term trips.
* Certifications & Professional Memberships: Industry certifications focused on OT security (e.g., GICSP, ISA/IEC 62443, CISSP, CISM) and membership of relevant professional bodies (IISP, BCS, IET) are highly desirable.
* Thought Leadership & Industry Involvement: Active contribution to the cyber‑security community through publications, conferences, or standards work.
* Specialist Expertise: Deep expertise in at least one sub‑domain of cyber or information security (e.g., security architecture, incident response, risk management) is a bonus.

This role may require security clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV). Candidates must be able to provide proof of UK residency for five years or longer. If you hold an existing security clearance, do not reference it in your application.
