Main duties of the job
The post holder will assess, plan, and deliver key aspects of sexual health care based on their knowledge, skills, and experience. Care delivery will evolve through ongoing learning and development.
Service delivery includes promoting and issuing all methods of contraception, screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), performing diagnostic procedures, and providing treatment and management of STIs in line with BASHH and NICE guidelines.

Job responsibilities

* Providing a confidential, safe environment for patients to discuss sexual health issues, with referrals to Specialist Nurses or Health Advisers for complex cases.
* Conducting assessments to implement holistic, individual-focused care.
* Providing relevant information regarding diagnosis, treatment, or contraception options.
* Issuing prescription-only medication under Patient Group Directions (PGDs) once fully competent, depending on patient needs.
* Achieving competency to provide comprehensive contraception and STI care, including microscopy for diagnosis support.
* Participating in staff supervision, appraisals, team meetings, and training sessions.
* Collaborating with wider sexual health teams for networking and information sharing.
* Following the service's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Supporting the clinic manager in implementing new ways of working and service developments.

Qualifications
* NMC registered; student nurses awaiting PIN are eligible to apply.
Skills
* Understanding testing, treatment, contraception, prevention, and sexual health education.
