Title: Home Support Team Member
Responsible to: Home Support Manager
Hours: Flexible part-time hours available, Monday–Friday, daytime only (no evenings or weekends)
Contract Type: Permanent, Part-time
Salary: £24,570 FTE (£12.60/hr), pro-rata for part-time hours, plus paid mileage and travel time
The role requires travel across the Age UK NSWD area; a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
About the Role
Do you want to make a real difference in your community? Our Home Support Team Members provide practical help and friendly companionship to older people, enabling them to live independently and enjoy later life.
This is not a personal care role, but it is about care. From helping with light housework and shopping, to sharing a chat over a cup of tea or supporting someone to get out and about, you'll be providing the kind of everyday support that makes a big difference.
We are expanding this service, and we're looking for caring, reliable people to join our team across Dorset.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide practical support in clients' homes, including light housework and laundry.
· Support clients with shopping, errands, and attending appointments.
· Offer companionship and encouragement, helping clients to stay connected and active.
· Assist with social outings and activities in the community.
· Keep accurate records of visits and tasks completed.
· Maintain confidentiality and respect at all times.
· Report any concerns or safeguarding issues promptly to the Home Support Manager
Person Specification
Essential
· Caring, reliable, and trustworthy.
· A friendly and professional manner.
· Ability to build positive relationships with older people.
· Good organisational skills and ability to manage own workload.
· Willingness to travel between clients (full driving licence and own vehicle essential).
· Basic IT skills (for logging visits and using email).
Desirable
· Experience working with older people or in a community setting.
· Knowledge of local services and community resources.
· Previous experience in a customer service, support, or volunteering role.
