This is an exciting opportunity to join the Biology Department within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences as a Departmental Administrative Coordinator. The role plays a key part in supporting the smooth and effective delivery of teaching, learning and research activities within the Department. You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering a range of departmental administrative processes, ensuring compliance with Faculty and University policies while providing a high-quality, customer-focused service to staff, students and external stakeholders. A significant aspect of the role involves leading on the collation, input, checking and reporting of student assessment data, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in preparation for Assessment Boards, including those involving international partners. You will also provide comprehensive administrative and organisational support to the Head of Department, the Departmental Administration Manager and academic colleagues. This will include line management responsibility for Grade 3 administrative staff, oversight of key departmental events, and acting as a central point of contact for both internal and external enquiries. As Departmental Administrative Coordinator, you will bring proven experience of working in a departmental administrative role within a higher education environment, along with strong organisational, prioritisation and problem-solving skills. You will be confident managing a varied workload in a busy setting, working proactively and calmly to meet deadlines while maintaining high service standards. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional, customer-focused approach that enables you to liaise effectively with staff, students and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Accuracy and attention to detail will be central to your work, particularly when handling student data and supporting assessment processes, and you will be comfortable using Microsoft Office and working with sensitive information in line with GDPR requirements. You will be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility, initiative and a commitment to delivering a high-quality administrative service that supports teaching, learning and research activity.
