NERS Manager

Role Overview
The NERS Manager will lead the ICP utility business unit, ensuring all electrical and civil works are delivered safely, on time, and fully compliant with DNO specifications and industry regulations. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, and experience within the utilities or ICP sector. The position is responsible for maintaining accreditation, managing operational performance, and driving quality across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead compliance across all projects, ensuring works meet industry standards, DNO specifications, and regulatory requirements, including issuing certification.
* Oversee site operations, coordinating supervisors and field teams across electrical and civil works.
* Manage the financial performance of the ICP business unit, including cost monitoring and project reporting.
* Maintain technical integrity of NERS accreditation through independent judgement and compliance oversight.
* Support recruitment, onboarding, and management of operational teams and supply chain partners.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, British Standards, Utility Codes of Practice, and DNO specifications.
* Administer the NERS passport scheme and ensure all personnel records are accurate and compliant.
* Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance across the business.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within utilities, ICP, or electrical infrastructure, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
* Strong knowledge of Distribution Safety Rules (DSR), DNO procedures, and utility sector compliance requirements.
* Ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects, and communicate technical requirements effectively.
* Solid understanding of health and safety legislation, operational procedures, and industry standards.
* HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification is essential.
* Authorisation to work on DNO networks is essential.
* Full UK driving licence is essential.
* NRSWA Supervisor certificate is desirable.
* ECS Health and Safety qualification, HE version, is desirable.
* Training in avoiding danger from underground services is desirable.
* Demonstrable experience and competence relevant to the role should be readily available.
