Health and Safety Advisor/Trainee £26,000 - £30,000 + Company Car

The Role
This position primarily covers the South and South East of England, from Gloucester to Poole and across to Kent. It involves regular visits to our Gloucester head office, with occasional support in other regions as needed. We have a first-class track record, and high standards of health and safety are essential as we aim to improve further.
We are looking for a qualified or trainee Health & Safety Advisor to join our team. This site-based role will work closely with our Production and Management teams to improve safety performance and promote a positive health and safety culture. Trainees, after completing an external qualification sponsored by us, are expected to progress to a Health & Safety Advisor role after 2 years, with further opportunities for advancement.
The working hours are based on a 39-hour week, typically 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00 am - 4:00 pm on Fridays, with an hour for lunch. Hours may vary to meet site visit needs, including earlier starts or later finishes.
Responsibilities
* Completing daily site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
* Assisting with records, inspections, and monitoring activities to verify compliance and effectiveness of health & safety processes and procedures
* Completing follow-up actions from audit reports
* Developing and delivering innovative engagement methods to promote safety, wellbeing, and environmental protection
* Supporting incident investigations and reports
* Monitoring and reporting on compliance and training, following up as needed
* Supporting the implementation of Company Safety Policies, Plans, and Initiatives
* Attending and participating in site meetings to improve communication
* Assisting in training new team members during induction
Requirements
* Previous experience in construction health and safety is beneficial but not essential
* Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH) is advantageous but not essential
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to coach and influence staff to adopt safer practices
* Excellent attention to detail
* Experience with IT packages such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and adaptability to new software
* Full UK Driving Licence
